Meet Mark Janicello

Mark is an award-winning, American Renaissance Man.  His YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/@MarkJanicello) has over 1,000,000 views. His performing career spans more than 30 years, including 100+ stage productions, and more than 100 film and tv projects. He has worked in 53 countries and due to his truly unique, extremely versatile singing voice, has recorded 39 CDs in every conceivable musical style.

Mark started his career started as a classically-trained operatic tenor.  While singing 40+ leading roles in operas and operettas, he continued studying acting for 10 years with a member of NY's famed Actor's Studio.   He has shared the stage, screen and microphone with Legends and Icons such as Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli, Bill Cosby, Chick Corea, Jody Watley, Jon Secada, Rock ‘n’ Roll Pioneer Bo Diddley, Reggae Stars Black Uhuru; operatic Superstars such as Cecilia Bartoli, Edita Gruberova, Francisco Araiza, Anna Moffo and Alfredo Kraus; Tony-Award Winners/Nominees like Liz Callaway, Debbie Gravitte, Kiril Kulish and Judy Kaye; as well as Hollywood luminaries like Anne Bancroft, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Alec Baldwin, among others. 

Some of the honors he has received over his lifetime include a study grant from the Puccini Foundation to further his operatic career; as well as being the first recipient of the Fleischer Music Prize from the City of Leipzig, Germany for his contributions to music and culture.  For his work as writer/ director/lyricist and as Tony Finelli in The Finellis Movie (available on Amazon Prime & Apple TV, among others) Mark received more than 40 award nominations in multiple categories, and won 18 prizes at international film festivals.

His autobiography "Naked in the Spotlight" is available in both English and German wherever books are sold. He work as a playwright include the successful European productions of the world-premiere musicals: (Elvis: The Musical, The Chameleon Concert, Be My Love: The Mario Lanza Musical, Charlie, Cloud 9, and The Great Caruso).  After moving to the United Kingdom, he was commissioned to write a new play, Take The Bins Out, which celebrated its world premiere at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and for which Mark was nominated for BBC Writers Room/Popcorn Award.  In 2024, The Finellis Musical  (which was based on Mark's award-winning comedy The Finellis Movie), celebrated its world premiere at Wonderville in the heart of London's West End.  Ulf Weidmann, Mark's longtime writing partner wrote the music for both the film and the musical, and Mark was responsible for the musical's book, lyrics and direction.

He has lived in 13 countries and is tri-lingual (English, German and Dutch).  In addition to his performing abilities, Mark is a talented painter with 13 international exhibitions to his name.  In the photo on this page, he is posing in front of his painting "Santa Maria" a portrait of operatic superstar Maria Callas that is adorned with 13,000 Swarovski Crystals. He has worked as both a columnist for Hoop Doop Magazine, and as a theatre critic for Broadway World.

Mark has been vegan since 2004 and advocates for a plant-based lifestyle.
