Mark Janicello is an award-winning American singer, actor, writer, and producer whose career spans more than 35 years and 53 countries. A Carnegie Hall-trained operatic tenor, he has released 39 albums across opera, pop, swing, and cabaret, and accumulated over 100 stage productions and 100 television and film credits. Winner of the LA Film Awards Best Comedy Film and Best Actor awards for The Finellis Movie (2022), he is currently performing Elvis & Me at Camden Fringe 2026. Ben Weisman, who composed 57 songs for Elvis Presley, called Janicello "the best Elvis interpreter (not imitator) in the world." Mark is based in London.

When Life Writes a Better Script
Mark Janicello has built an extraordinary international career by repeatedly saying "yes" to opportunities that made no sense at the time—but changed his life forever.
Mark Janicello never meant to become Elvis.
A classically trained opera singer from New York, he imagined a career in opera and musical theatre—not in the world of Elvis Presley. In fact, he wasn't even much of an Elvis fan.
Yet life had other ideas.
The irony still makes him smile.
What followed changed the course of his career. Over the next fifteen years, he portrayed Elvis more than 400 times in two major European stage productions, became close friends with legendary songwriter Ben Weisman—the man who wrote more songs for Elvis than anyone else—and was entrusted with the first commercial recording of "Will You Still Be There," an unreleased Elvis song intended for what would have been Presley's final album.
Weisman later told the international media:
"Mark has a voice that Elvis could have only dreamed of. He is, in my opinion, the Best Elvis Interpreter (not IMITATOR) in the world, and I know what I'm talking about. I've heard them all."
Even today, Janicello describes that extraordinary chapter of his life as something that happened to him rather than something he ever pursued.
"When I sing popular music, that's simply my voice," he says. "I never studied Elvis's mannerisms or tried to copy him. When I was hired to play Elvis, I'd never owned an Elvis record and I'd never seen one of his films. What connected me to his music wasn't imitation—it was understanding the emotion behind the songs...and understanding the man who sang them."
Remarkably, that unexpected chapter turned out to be only one stop on a much larger journey.
During a career spanning more than thirty-five years, Janicello has performed in 53 countries, recorded 39 albums, appeared in more than 100 stage productions and 100 television and film productions, building one of the entertainment industry's most eclectic international careers.
Looking back, he laughs that the only thing that makes sense about his career is that none of it was planned.
"I've never really had a master plan," he says. "I've simply followed the work that excited me."
Serendipity
Ask Mark Janicello what connects the defining moments of his career and he'll answer with a single word.
Serendipity.
Winning America's Best Street Performer in Times Square with his comic musical mash-up of Elvis and Pavarotti unexpectedly earned him an invitation to join the Young Artist Programme at the Zurich Opera House. Even Janicello admits he still can't quite explain that one.
Later, the company invited him back to perform the same award-winning piece at a special gala.
Among the audience that evening was Peter Reichenbach, producer of the Cinemusic Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland. Impressed by the performance, Reichenbach invited Janicello to appear alongside Ben Weisman, who was being honoured for writing more songs for Elvis Presley than any other songwriter.
That invitation became a friendship.
That friendship led to Elvis.
Elvis led him across Europe.
Looking back, Janicello smiles at how many of the defining moments in his life began with one unexpected invitation—and his willingness to say, "Yes."

Each chapter seemed to arrive not as part of a carefully constructed plan, but as the natural consequence of saying "yes" when opportunity knocked.
Today, London is home, but Janicello's career continues to take him wherever the next opportunity leads. He performs internationally, develops new productions, teaches singers through his Vocal Science™ method, writes about music, creativity and performance, and continues to explore the remarkable relationship between artistic expression and human potential.
His story is no longer really about Elvis Presley.
Nor is it about opera.
Or Broadway.
Or even performing.
It's about embracing the unexpected.

He has a simple philosophy.
"I've always said, 'If God opens a door, I tend to walk through it.' I don't need to know where it will lead. I just need to believe it was meant for me. Looking back, that simple philosophy has given me a life I could never have imagined."
